Assessment of groundwater potential using multi-criteria decision analysis and geoelectrical surveying

A precise map of the dispersion groundwater potential across each watershed can help decision-makers to exert optimal water management in region. In this research, resources both Zanjanrood Catchment and Tarom Region, located northwest Iran, has been studied. Seven effective criteria including slope, land-use, drainage density, spring lithology, lineament rainfall are considered. Criteria were first weighted using Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) method then overlaid by Technique for Order Preferences Similarity Ideal (TOPSIS) model. Finally, spatial zoning was obtained four categories. sensitivity analysis performed determine influence criterion on map. The model verified distribution high-discharged production wells geophysical-based geoelectric field surveys. results indicate that (>40 l/s) regions dispersed predominantly very good zone and, several cases, zone. Besides, from two-dimensional models resistivity induced polarization geoelectrical survey inappropriate agreement with those TOPSIS method. Notably, there is no suitable surrounding highlands be used future drinking purposes since supply a strategic drinking. strategies employed study, GIS modeling, considered sustainable development similar arid semi-arid areas as main supplier such regions.
